Overview
Rising Arts Leaders San Diego understands that 2021 has continued to be a challenging year for many people, including artists. Although opportunities for work, residencies, gigs, and events have begun to start again, we know that many artists still need help, the art community is rebuilding.
Rising Arts Leaders San Diego is dedicated to supporting artists, and as we begin to close out our program year, we want to give back to our community through gifting supplies to artists for another year. Through this program, artists are invited to submit their wish list of up to $100 worth of supplies and the Artist Advocacy Committee will select items from those lists based on the number of interested artists that fit within our budget ($1,000).

Submissions that are received after the deadline will not be considered.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for Supplies for Artists 2021, applicants must:
1) Be a working artist.
Applicants must identify with any of the listed disciplines: Craft, Dance, Design, Film, Media, Music, Theater & Performance, Traditional Arts, Visual Art, and Writing. Priority will be given to artists with projects in progress, or projects that can start when supplies are purchased. At this time, we are unable to provide supplies for hobby purposes. 2) Be a member of Rising Arts Leaders of San Diego.
Sign up for Rising Arts Leaders membership by joining our email list. Please visit www.risingartsleadersofsandiego.org and click “Become a Member”. This will be addressed in your Application.
3) Be based in San Diego County and the Baja Region.
4) A demonstrated involvement in San Diego County’s arts and culture sector.
Review Criteria
All artists will be asked to provide links or images to current works in progress. This can be in the form of an image, description of the project, or call for artists. Please be specific with your current work in progress. Providing a general link to a website or Instagram account does not help us understand your needs. If providing an image, please be sure it is an image of the project you’re currently working on or will work on with the supplies requested.
All wish lists must provide supplies that are readily available through online stores (Michael’s, Jo-Ann Fabric Stores, Blick Art Materials, Target, Amazon, etc). Lists must have products that are in stock. If you can create a shopping cart and share that link, that would be helpful to the process. Please note that we are asking all artists to only submit a list from ONE specific site. We are unable to order from multiple sites. Thank you for understanding.
Examples of approved supplies: editing software, paints and paint brushes, fabric, equipment, canvas and/or panels, tools, music strings, etc.
Review Process and Timeline
The Rising Arts Leader’s Steering Committee will review submissions. To expedite the process, supplies will be selected by the Artist Advocacy Committee and may not be all the items you included to your list. Approved artists will be contacted by the Rising Arts Leaders’ Secretary to confirm the selected items. Those items will be purchased by the Artist Advocacy Committee members and either mailed directly to the artists or made available for pick up at a specific location.
- Sunday, November 28th at 8:00 AM – Submissions Open
- Tuesday, December 7th at 11:59 PM – Submissions Close
- Thursday, December 9th – Confirmation Emails Sent to Selected Recipients
- Thursday, December 9th – Wednesday, December 15th – Supplies are Purchased
How to Apply
Submissions will be accepted starting on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 8:00 AM and accepted until Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 11:59 PM. Only completed applications submitted by the deadline will be considered. No exceptions will be made.
